What started as a journey to find a new hobby during difficult times, led to a passion for creating something unique, local and real. Shawn Herbert, Head Distiller & Founder, started experimenting with recipes in his garage back in 2015, and after a couple years of hard work and dedication, Broken Oak Distilling was born.
At Broken Oak, they oversee every detail from grain to your glass and handcraft their spirits the right way, from selecting the finest local ingredients, to putting the cork in the bottle. They have local partners such as Broken Tine Orchard, where their Haskap berries are sourced from and with Vavy Valley Farms, a multi generational farm in the Peace Region, that won Grand Prairie's Farm Family award in 2022 (which is kind of a big deal around here).
Producing some of the finest, award winning spirits in Canada, with a focus on local ingredients, from local producers, and an unmatched attention to detail, Broken Oak Distilling is definitely worth checking out when visiting Grande Prairie.
